Marijuana Edibles: THC Gummies & THC Chocolates

Marijuana-Edibles-THC-Gummies-&-THC-Chocolates-Featured

There’s a saying when taking THC, start low and go slow. This is especially true when eating products that contain THC. Some people who’ve eaten THC eat too much and have had a bad experience. This is because while THC is very good at reducing pain and inflammation, THC is also intoxicating. Use too much and the feeling of euphoria fades as the mind become very active. This is because THC is very stimulating to the brain. You can’t overdose or die from too much THC since it doesn’t affect the areas of the brain that control your heart rate or breathing. Therefore, you’re in no danger but it can make your mind race and this is when people imagine all sorts of horrible things happening to them.

Usually when people are eating THC is when they get into trouble. This is because when you eat foods containing THC, the THC is digested, passed through the liver, and is converted to a more powerful intoxicant or a psychoactive chemical called 11-hydroxy-THC. This is what causes people to get “stoned” after eating an edible. This is because when THC is eaten it takes 20-30 minutes for it to begin working and requires 90 minutes for the full effects. And this is where people get into trouble. They take a gummy or a bite of a brownie, wait 15 minutes, think it’s not working, and eat another gummy or brownie bite, and now they’ve eaten too much as the THC and 11-hydroxy-THC begin to work. About 2 mg of THC is the limit where psychoactivity begins for a new user when eaten. If you take it 20 minutes before you eat you’ll probably experience effects in about 60 minutes. If you take 2 mg after a meal you might notice the pain-relieving properties without the euphoria. Therefore, start low and go slow applies to THC especially when eating it.

CBD: Inflammation and Blood Pressure

CBD-Inflammation-and-Blood-Pressure-Featured

I have a horrible case of white lab coat syndrome even if it’s just a routine checkup. Every time I go to the doctor or hospital my blood pressure rises because I’m not a fan of hospitals or doctors. This is because growing up I had numerous doctors in my family so I didn’t have to be
treated by anybody else. And nobody goes to the doctor or hospital for a good time. It’s not Disneyworld, the beach, or going for pizza.

When I started taking CBD I noticed my aches and pains diminished. I didn’t get motion sickness as easily because CBD prevents nausea. And my blood pressure went down, especially when I was at the doctor. This is because CBD can decrease inflammation in the body including your
circulatory system helping to lower blood pressure. It also helps the release of serotonin and dopamine reducing stress and giving you a relaxed calm feeling similar to meditation. This is why it can also help with sleep. CBD doesn’t cause sleepiness. It just helps take the edge off your day allowing your mind to remain calm and focused which in turn allows you to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression better. Add it to your daily regimen and see how it can help you.

CBD Dosage: How Much CBD Should I Take?

CBD-Dosage-How-Much-CBD-Should-I-Take-Featured

One of the primary questions asked about CBD is dosing. How much CBD should I take? How often should I take CBD?

There’s a saying in the CBD and THC industry, start low and go slow. In our opinion, this applies only to THC not CBD. Why do I say that? Some people who’ve used or tried THC usually eat too much and have had a bad experience. This is because while THC is very good at reducing pain and inflammation, THC is also intoxicating. Use too much and the feeling of euphoria fades as the mind becomes overactive. This is because THC is very stimulating to the brain. You can’t overdose or die from too much THC since it doesn’t affect the areas of the brain that control your heart or breathing. Therefore, you’re in no danger but it can make your mind race and this is when people imagine all sorts of horrible things happening to them.

Like THC, CBD is a very effective cannabinoid at helping with pain, inflammation, and a variety of neurological issues. But CBD is a weak molecule and for it to be effective in the body it needs to be taken in higher doses. Many companies don’t understand this and don’t make potent products. Or if they make potent products, they’re so expensive it’s another monthly bill. Many people have tried CBD and noticed the benefits but weren’t completely sold. The benefits weren’t significant because the products they used didn’t contain much CBD or they didn’t take enough. This is why our tinctures start at 2000 mg CBD and go to 5000 mg CBD per ounce. And our pain cream has 3000 mg of CBD while our eczema product has 6000 mg CBD per ounce. We typically suggest people try one of our potent tinctures to see if CBD offers any relief or benefit. If it does, wonderful! Then they can begin to lower their dosage to see what their lowest effective dosage is enabling them to take less and spend less. What dose would I suggest? At least 50-75 mg of CBD twice a day placed under the tongue and held for 2 -3 minutes. If you purchase another manufacturer’s less potent product and have to take more to notice benefits then it becomes cost-prohibitive to receive the full benefits of CBD. And price and potency shouldn’t stand in the way of feeling better.

Water Soluble CBD

Water-soluble CBD products haven’t truly been tested for efficacy and proper or sufficient dose delivery. Sophisticated cannabis doctors and scientists such as Ethan Russa, M.D. are still a bit skeptical about water-soluble CBD. Being able to deliver CBD or any supplements effectively in water would be great. Yet based on the current amount of knowledge and research regarding CBD, water is still not the best or most effective delivery method. This is because large CBD dose delivery and body absorption and utilization using water are price prohibitive until science and manufacturing can make it possible and economical. Plus, CBD doesn’t dissolve well in water even using a variety of emulsion techniques. Therefore, doctors and researchers still haven’t agreed water is the best method of delivery. It’s certainly not as effective as vaping CBD or using a CBD tincture sublingually which simply means diffusing CBD into the bloodstream through tissues under the tongue.

What is the Difference Between Broad and Full-Spectrum CBD?

What-is-the-Difference-Between-Broad-and-Full-Spectrum-CBD-Featured

Broad-spectrum and full-spectrum are terms used to indicate a product has a variety of cannabinoids. Some define broad-spectrum as products having a variety of cannabinoids AND NO THC. While some define full-spectrum as products having a variety of cannabinoids AND THC. The use of multiple cannabinoids (CBD, THC, THCA, CBG, etc.) in products enhance their benefits or effectiveness. This is called the entourage effect. But the terms “broad-spectrum or full spectrum” have yet to be defined or quantified medically or scientifically indicating which of the 100 cannabinoids need to be present and in what quantities for these enhanced benefits to occur.

As a result, many companies have turned broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD into marketing terms simply to generate sales. Doctors know cannabinoids work well together (entourage effect) but more research is needed to determine specific combinations and ratios of cannabinoids needed to treat specific ailments. It’s our opinion it’s better to have products that contain enough CBD to help individuals because scientists and doctors know CBD works by itself. That’s why the pharmaceutical company GW Pharmaceuticals manufactures only CBD products (Epidiolex) for children with intractable epilepsies like Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

What is the “Entourage Effect”?

The Entourage Effect means when different cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBDA, THCA, etc.) are used together they create a synergy generating greater benefits. But cannabinoids like THC are illegal in many states & other cannabinoids like CBG, CBC, CBDA, THCA, THCV (and 100 others) are rare, occur in trace amounts, and are very expensive.

It’s better to have more CBD in products offering benefits we know will occur rather than having “broad or full spectrum” products with much less CBD and only trace amounts of other cannabinoids offering minimal, if any benefits.

What Exactly is CBD and How Does it Work?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s one of over a hundred cannabinoids produced by hemp and marijuana which are both varieties of cannabis. This is why THC and CBD are called cannabinoids because they’re produced by cannabis.

For a simple explanation, cannabinoids like CBD and THC are chemicals produced primarily by resin glands on the flowering parts (the buds) of hemp and marijuana plants. Some cannabinoids are also produced in small qualities by the leaves. The stalks and the seeds produce little, if any, CBD or THC.

Will I get high if I take CBD? No, you won’t. CBD is not intoxicating like THC and will not create a euphoric feeling when smoked, vaporized, ingested, or applied topically. This is because THC binds to the brain receptors that cause euphoria and CBD does not.

What is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana?

What-is-the-Difference-Between-Hemp-and-Marijuana

Simple, both hemp and marijuana are different varieties of a plant classified as, or called cannabis, just like a pine tree and a palm tree are different varieties or classifications for trees. Both hemp and marijuana produce CBD. And just like selective breeding is used to make racehorses faster or flowers more colorful, selective breeding can genetically increase hemp or marijuana’s production of CBD when grown. Therefore, the question of How is CBD different from marijuana is answered by saying, CBD is produced by marijuana and hemp.

Is CBD Legal?

Yes, it is legal although in some states you might need a license to grow, manufacture, or sell products to the public.

Can CBD be mailed?

Yes, it is legal to mail CBD in the United States but Federal law specifically states it must contain less than 0.3% THC and must be derived from hemp as opposed to cannabis which is truly irrelevant since CBD from marijuana is the same chemically as CBD from hemp.

The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (The 2018 Farm Bill) removed hemp from the federally controlled substance list which allows for hemp products to be shipped between states as of June 6, 2019.
