CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s one of over a hundred cannabinoids produced by hemp and marijuana which are both varieties of cannabis. This is why THC and CBD are called cannabinoids because they’re produced by cannabis.
For a simple explanation, cannabinoids like CBD and THC are chemicals produced primarily by resin glands on the flowering parts (the buds) of hemp and marijuana plants. Some cannabinoids are also produced in small qualities by the leaves. The stalks and the seeds produce little, if any, CBD or THC.
Will I get high if I take CBD? No, you won’t. CBD is not intoxicating like THC and will not create a euphoric feeling when smoked, vaporized, ingested, or applied topically. This is because THC binds to the brain receptors that cause euphoria and CBD does not.
